1. What's new!

We have two winners for our free draws in October!
Congratulations to Henri Kooperbey and Sylvia Evans! Our draws this month were at the Calgary Apartment Association Show and the Calgary Woman's Show and totalled $400!

Thanks to all of you who stopped by our booths to find out about our service. We sincerely hope we can help you in the future. It was great to meet some of you who have used our referral service!

2. November's $$ Saving Tip - Unhook your garden hose!

It is important to remove your garden hoses from any outdoor faucets in the winter. This is true even if you have no-freeze faucets where the valve/washer mechanism is recessed far back inside the house. If the faucet drips just a slight amount, over time it will fill the hose near the faucet, the faucet and the pipe itself. When water freezes, it expands and the faucet will surely be ruined. If you are lucky, the pipe will be spared, but it can split too. (Jim Dulley)

3. Older bathtub? Try this to prevent water damage.

Check the condition of the caulk along the top edge of your bathtub. If it is cracked or missing in any spots, the moisture, especially when showering, can get through to the wall. Over time, this can cause significant and expensive damage to the wall.

4. Great stocking stuffer idea! Firestarters!

Need a good homemade stocking stuffer idea? Why buy firestarters when you can make them easily from recycled waste materials. We had a campfire with friends who told us their dad's secret recipe!

Materials:
- candle stubs
- dryer lint (from the filter)
- cardboard egg cartons
- a clean can from the recycling bin

Process:
At a low heat, carefully melt a can of candle stubs. Stuff wadded up dryer lint into the egg holder spaces. Carefully pour in melted wax . Let it cool. Cut the egg carton into 12 fire starters &

6. The Monthly Funny :-) The Doctor and the Plumber

A pipe burst in a doctor's house. He called a plumber. The plumber
arrived, unpacked his tools, did mysterious plumber-type things for a while, and handed the doctor a bill for $600.
The doctor exclaimed, "This is ridiculous! I don't even make that much as a doctor!"
The plumber waited for him to finish and quietly said, "Neither did I when I was a doctor."
