2. June's
$$ Saving Tip - How to easily control your water use
The average family of four uses
350 gallons of water each day.
What a waste! Here are some ideas of how you can save money,
waste less and help our environment:
- Take short showers instead of baths. A full bathtub requires
about
36 gallons of water. A five-minute shower using a flow
restrictor will use just 15 to 25 gallons.
- Don't leave the water running when brushing your teeth or
shaving.
With the tap running at full force, shaving takes 20 gallons of
water,
teeth-brushing takes 10 and hand washing takes 2.
- Check for leaky faucets and toilets. A leaky tap, dripping
once
per second, wastes six gallons of water a day.
- Don't run water continuously when washing dishes by hand.
Attach "low-flow" faucet aerators to faucets.

3. Do's &
Don'ts for your renovation project
Make sure you consider the
following Do's and Don'ts when
initiating a home improvement project and selecting a
contractor,
whether you use our service, or do it on your own:
· Do verify the name, address, telephone number, credentials
and
references of the contractor. Make sure that he/she is licensed,
insured, and/or bonded. (If you use Home-Work, this is done for
you.)
· Do obtain more than one bid for the home improvement project.
Do some comparison shopping when choosing the contractor.
· Do check with the building and zoning authorities in your
area to
determine what permits you need to proceed with your project.
· Do include all the terms, conditions, warranties, and oral
promises concerning the project in a written contract.
· Don't sign the agreement until you have completely read and
understood all of the provisions.
· Don't submit to high pressure sales tactics by a contractor
or
sales representative.
· Don't sign a completion certificate for the job before it has
been
inspected and properly completed as agreed to in the contract.
· Don't pay for the entire job in advance.
· Do contact your local government consumer affairs office
and/or
local BBB, if you are unable to resolve a dispute with your
contractor.

6. The Monthly
Funny :-) "Dumb Plumbers"
|There were two plumbers sitting
at a bar one day. They ordered
their drinks and sat at the bar for a while. Suddenly, they both
stood up, slapped hands, and yelled, "Fifty-five!".
The bartender
was pretty confused but just decided to ignore them.
About five or ten minutes later, they both stood up again,
slapped
hands, and yelled, "Fifty-five!" Again the bartender
just decided to
ignore them.
Ten minutes later they followed the same routine. By now the
bartender was getting pretty annoyed, so he went over and asked,
"Why do you guys keep standing up and yelling
fifty-five?"
One of the plumbers said, "Well, we stopped at Toys R Us on
the
way here and got a puzzle. On the side of the box it said 2 to 4
years, but we got it done in fifty-five minutes!"
(Thanks to one of our subscribers for sending this in. And once
again my apologies to any plumbers reading this!)
